Be honest with your doctor

When a person seeks medical treatment from a doctor after being involved in an accident, one of the first questions the doctor will ask is about your medical history. If you have EVER had any type of pain in the area of your body that was hurt in the accident, it is imperative that you share that information with the doctor. If the doctor is called upon to testify about the cause of your injuries, then he or she will need to know how your current problems differ from any prior problems you have had with the same area of your body. This is especially true when it comes to neck and back injuries. A thorough defense attorney will comb your medical history for any indication that you ever had any problems with the body part that is now bothering you. Even if the problem is completely different, the smart thing to do is to tell your doctor about any prior problems you had. Then, explain that since the accident you are experiencing an entirely new or fresh injury. This will make the medical record clearer and make the doctor's job of providing expert testimony easier.
